Potatoes are one of the most used and liked vegetable across the world ,It is used in majority of dishes for it's amazing taste and benefits ,but for every coin there are two sides , If potatoes have benefits then consuming too much potatoes has a lot of harmful effects on our body !
1.It increases your weight
For a healthy lifestyle it is very important to be in normal weight category , As potatoes contains a big amount of carbohydrates in it ,consumption of potatoes beyond a limit can cause increase in weight and make a person obese!
2. Effects the digestive system
Moderate consumption of potatoes has lot's of benefits on our digestive system on the other hand consuming too much potatoes can cause problems like intestinal blockage,diarrhea etc ,due to presence of too much dietary fibers .
Potatoes are also rich in starch that can create problems like intestinal gas ,stomach discomfort etc.
3. It can cause hypo-tension
As potatoes are rich sources f potassium ,that are beneficial to lower the blood pressure ,but if you have already taken medicines for controlling high blood pressure and you consume potatoes ,it's high potassium content can lower your blood pressure to dangerous extent! increasing the risk of Hypo-tension
4. Not good for a diabetic patient
As potatoes are rich in carbohydrates ,they break down into glucose and can increase the blood pressure .
Although dietary fibers present in potatoes reduces the rate of absorption of sugar in our blood but when potatoes are consumed in excess they are of no use, that's why doctors often advice a diabetic patient not to eat too much potatoes
5.Too much antioxidants is not good
As potatoes are rich sources of antioxidants ,they have a number of benefits on our body but excessive presence of antioxidants ,increases the risks of several types of cancers like lung cancer ,reason behind this is , excess quantity of anti-oxidants not only protect healthy cells but they also protect cancer cells and help them to grow in our body.
